Does your back hurt after a day at the office? Are your legs and feet tired after long hours of standing? A massage chair might be just the product you need to get relief at home.

The thing is, there are tons of different features and models on the market. It can be challenging to find the best one for your unique needs.

We’re here to help with our Osaki Titan Summit Flex SL review!

Osaki Titan Summit Flex SL Design Overview

Osaki Titan is a brand that produces affordable massage chairs with contemporary designs, advanced technology, and innovative features for therapeutic results.

Summit Flex Massage Chair with black PU upholstery, white hard shell exterior, and mood lights on the side

Their moderately priced Summit Flex SL track massage chair is the star of our review, and it stands out as a model that has something different to offer than most standard recliners on the market.

Starting with the design, it veers away from the typical pod-shape, with geometric edges like an intergalactic ship, complete with glowing chromotherapy lights on the side panels.

The Summit Flex dimensions are 73″ D x 29″ W x 33.5″ H when reclined, and it accommodates a max user weight of 260 lbs. To be honest, that’s average, considering there are other chairs that can hold from 300 to 400 lbs. Therefore, people with larger body types might not benefit from this chair.

Installing the Summit recliner shouldn’t be too much of a hassle if you already have a spacious area prepped and ready. And for those living in close quarters, the Summit Flex is equipped with space-saving technology, which only requires 4″ of clearance between the chair and wall.

Furthermore, the Summit Flex is one of the few massage chairs to undergo noise testing, receiving a stamp of approval for operating under 50 dB. That means you get a whisper-quiet operation that won’t disrupt your tranquil state.

Now, it’s time to get into the good stuff as we poke around behind the plush upholstery to see how the Summit Flex performs.

Titan Summit Flex SL Track Features

Get ready to sit back, relax, and enjoy the unique variety that the Summit Flex has to offer when it comes to features and massage programs. Let’s take a look!

Flex SL-Track + 2D Roller System

Summit Flex Massage Chair with black PU upholstery, white hard shell exterior, and a control knob on one arm

Before we analyze the performance capabilities of the Summit Flex massage chair track and roller setup, it’s important to understand how it compares to the other main types of setups on the market.

Starting with the track, there are three types:

  • S-Track: This is the most basic setup found mainly on low-range chairs. The track follows the natural “S” curve of the spine.
  • L-Track: This is considered the industry standard and is typically found with mid to high-range chairs. The track is an “L” shape that follows the spine to the lumbar region, curving underneath the seat to reach the glutes and thighs.
  • SL-Track: This is slightly more advanced, combining the benefits of the “S” and “L” designs into one.

The Summit Flex has a 52″ Flex SL-Track, which enables the user to experience a full-body massage while enjoying the accuracy of the natural “S” movement along the spine.

What’s unique about this particular model is that the track conforms to your back so that the rollers are always in contact, no matter what recline you’re in. This is different from a standard SL-track that stays in a fixed position.

But for the price, we are a bit surprised to see that the track is equipped with 2D rollers instead of 3D. The difference is that 3D rollers feel more lifelike because the rollers move vertically, horizontally, and in/out to knead deep into tissue—like real human hands.

Unfortunately, 2D rollers do not move in/out, so the user misses out on certain therapeutic techniques and intensity that can bring serious relief.

Since the track and rollers are arguably the most important component of a massage chair, the Summit Flex loses big points for 2D rollers since this is considered old technology.

Auto Body Scan

The auto body scan has been around for a while, and you’ll see it offered by the majority of chairs on the market.

This technology utilizes sensors to map out the main pressure points along the user’s neck and back, then self-adjusts the rollers for accuracy.

It’s a convenience feature that enables the user to relax without wasting time meddling with the rollers, but note that the body scan isn’t always 100% accurate (and that goes for other chairs, too). So don’t be surprised if you must manually adjust the rollers yourself from time to time.

Zero Gravity Seating

Zero Gravity seating is a favorite of massage chair enthusiasts because of the therapeutic benefits it offers people who suffer from chronic back pain.

This is a special recline angle that elevates the user’s legs above the heart. In this position, pressure is released from the joints and spine, making the user feel weightless.

This epic relaxation tool decompresses the body, so blood circulation improves, and back pain subsides. This position also pushes the spine firmly against the rollers, enhancing intensity with deeper roller penetration.

We especially love that the Summit Flex comes with two different Zero-G positions to give users more flexibility to adjust their preferences.

Lumbar and Calf Heat

This is another component that Osaki Titan nailed with the Summit Flex SL massage chair.

Heating is a wonderful therapeutic feature that not only feels heavenly, but it helps relax tight muscles and melt pain

The Summit Flex has a heating element in the lumbar area, so people with back pain can experience immense relief while the rollers do their thing.

But what really caught our eye was the calf heating. This is great for people with sore legs. It’s rare to see heating in the calf area with most chairs, so you’re getting plenty of bang for your buck here.

Summit Flex Massage Chair Accessories

One area that Osaki Titan is pretty good about is providing users with a generous offering of useful and indulgent accessories to enhance the overall experience.

The Summit Flex comes with Bluetooth speakers in the headrest and a USB port, so you can juice up your smart devices while playing your favorite tunes during the massage.

You’ll also notice glowing colored lights on the side panels of the Summit Flex. These lights aren’t for decoration. They’re actually chromotherapy lights that are thought to help balance the physical, mental, and emotional state.

So you get the basic extras that you’ll find on the majority of chairs, but chromotherapy is a rare luxury feature to help facilitate a total feeling of spiritual well-being.

Titan Summit Flex Massage Chair Programs

Next up, we dig deep into the massage smorgasbord that the Titan Summit Flex recliner can perform.

At first glance, it has a generous assortment of 12 innovative and unique programs. This includes a Yoga Stretch—which feels sublime after a workout—along with rarities such as Thai and Chinese massage.

Here is a full list of the 12 auto programs:

  • Extension
  • Release
  • Yoga
  • Thai
  • Chinese
  • Ancient
  • Boss
  • Lady
  • Seniors
  • Neck & Shoulder
  • Waist & Glutes
  • Back & Spine

If you prefer to build your own massage, there’s the manual mode, which lets users combine five different techniques, including kneading, tapping, knocking, Shiatsu, and sync.

You can adjust the width of the rollers, choose from six different speeds, and select where you want to target the movements with the whole body, partial, and point settings.

We love that you can also customize the duration of your massage with 10, 20, or 30-minute sessions.

The massage menu is unique and varied, which is refreshing since so many chairs on the market more or less offer the same thing.

The manual mode also gives you plenty of freedom to customize to your heart’s content, but do note that since you’re working with 2D rollers, don’t expect as much variety with the intensity or techniques as you’d get with 3D or 4D.

Air Massage

Air Massage is another customer favorite that utilizes self-inflating airbags to deliver a deeply relaxing compression massage.

Compression invigorates surface muscles, facilitating blood flow and relieving tension. This is the perfect low-intensity massage for when you just want to relax, or you can combine air with the back rollers to amp up the therapeutic benefits.

The Summit Flex comes equipped with 48 airbags placed throughout the chair to target the shoulders, arms, calves, and feet. The more airbags in the chair, the more area of the body are covered, so you’re getting a top-notch setup here.

There are also five intensity levels to customize your experience further.

Foot/Calf Massage

The Summit Flex SL track massage chair features an excellent foot massage, with silent foot rollers that penetrate the arches while airbags compress to increase intensity

There are also airbags that massage the calves, but we’re slightly disappointed that there are no rollers that work tired leg muscles. This is what sets a massage chair apart from the competition. Although, the Summit Flex does have heating in the calf area, which is rare.

Still, if you spend long hours on your feet that leave you with sore, tense legs, you’ll enjoy the heat as it relieves pain and relaxes the calf muscles.

Variants of Titan Summit Flex

Titan Summit Flex Massage Chair Pros vs. Cons

PROS

  • Affordable
  • Flex SL-Track
  • Two Zero-G positions
  • Lumbar and leg heat
  • Chromotherapy lights
  • 12 auto programs
  • Customization options

CONS

  • No calf rollers
  • Older 2D roller technology
  • Doesn’t support larger body types

The Osaki Titan Summit Flex massage chair is a moderately priced model that comes with a feature-rich setup, rare programs, and innovative technology we haven’t seen on the market.

Summit Flex Massage Chair with dark gray PU upholstery, white hard shell exterior, and a silver control knob on one arm

The design is futuristic and stylish, with chromotherapy lights that provide a subtle, color-changing glow that soothes the senses while making the chair look totally suave.

It comes with therapeutic features, such as two Zero Gravity positions and heat in the lumbar and calf area, giving people with back and leg pain plenty of relief. Plus, the Flex SL-Track is something new to experience, increasing the accuracy of the massage by conforming to any reclined position.

We also love the variety of the 12 auto programs, which include unique offerings such as Chinese, Thai, and Ancient massage. The Yoga Stretch is also a fan favorite, benefiting the body and mind with gentle pulling that increases the range of motion.

The gripes are few with this chair, but the one big drawback (and it’s a big one) is that it comes with 2D rollers. This older technology just doesn’t compare to 3D or 4D rollers, and at this point in the game, it’s surprising to see a model in this price range sporting the latest accessories and design but no 3D rollers!

Nonetheless, people who suffer from chronic back or leg pain still get plenty of therapeutic value with the Summit Flex, especially when the roller magic is combined with heat and air compression.

And if you just want to kick back and relax in a plush massage chair that looks like a spaceship, then this is a suitable option, giving you plenty of customization settings to create your own personal zen zone.
