The Jura Impressa J9 One Touch TFT Coffee Machine is dressed to impress and is a machine that any coffee enthusiast would love to own. Stylishly designed, it is a handsome addition to any kitchen and filled with convenience features that make brewing the perfect cup of your favorite drink a snap.
If the machine was pretty but lacked functionality, we couldn’t recommend it. If it had functionality, but took an advanced degree to operate, we also couldn’t recommend it. Let’s take a closer look at what it has to offer through this Jura J9 Review:
Jura J9 One Touch Functionality
The first thing you should know about the Jura J9 is that it packs tons of functionality and features you’ll love into a surprisingly small footprint. The unit’s dimensions are a mere 16.5″x11″x13.2″ and it weighs just 24 pounds. Even better, using it is about as simple as it gets. There’s a rotary dial on the front of the machine. Turning it will let you cycle through the drinks that come pre-programmed on the machine. You can also program your coffee creations if you like.
Using it is as simple as finding the drink you want and pushing the button. That’s it. That’s all you have to do aside from making sure that the unit has water, beans, and milk at the ready, of course.
Jura J9 Coffee Machine Features
There’s so much to like about the Jura J9 that it’s hard to know where to start. We’re going to start with the feature we like best: the height-adjustable cappuccino spout.
Some people just want a cup of coffee. Others want more. The height-adjustable spout of the Jura J9 One Touch TFT makes it easy to get as much of your favorite drink as you want, enabling you to raise the spout from its default position of 4.33 inches high up to 6.02 inches so you can fit a larger cup or glass under it. Every super-automatic espresso machine should do this, in our opinion.
We weren’t as excited about the Fine Foam Technology, but it’s a feature worth mentioning because there will be those who love it. The three bars inside the frothing spout have the effect of slowing down the foam as it exits from the frother. The gradual pouring gives you a more even froth in the cup which is a welcome addition for those who love frothy coffee drinks.
Then there’s the grinder. With multiple grinding options, you can control the flavor and texture of your finished product. Use the same beans you always use, but adjust your grind settings and you’ll wind up with a very different flavored drink in your cup. The grinding setting is a feature well worth experimenting.
On the more practical side of things, let’s talk clean up. Again, the Jura J9 impresses. The machine’s sensors tell you when it’s time for a cleaning, and cleaning couldn’t be easier. Drop a cleaning tablet into the machine, push the button, and it will wash and rinse for you. You’ll need to set some cups under the coffee and milk spouts to catch the discharge.
The process takes about twenty minutes from start to finish and is essentially hands-free. You’ll find that you’ll be prompted for a cleaning after about 200 cups of coffee or thereabouts. The drip tray is also easily removable for cleaning and has a total of four sections to it. You can either clean them by hand or put them in the dishwasher as they are dishwasher safe.
For those looking to enjoy a great cup of coffee but “go green” at the same time, the Jura J9 TFT also has an energy save mode. If you activate this feature, once the coffee has been brewed, the heating elements shut off and the water is not kept at brewing temperature. When you’re ready to brew more, push a button and the rapid heating element will have the water ready to go in under thirty seconds.
