The Best Choice recliner sofa is affordable and looks nice, but does it have quality components and will it stand up to years of use?

We did the research to find out.

In this Best Choice Recliner review, learn all there is know about this affordable model, plus see how it stacks up to the similar Human Touch iJoy 2580. By the end, you’ll have the information you need to decide whether this massaging recliner is a worthy investment or simply a cheap chair.

Let’s get started!

best Choice Recliner Sofa Features

Best Choice Recliner Review

Vibration Massage

First things first, the Best Choice recliner sofa offers massage, but it’s not technically a massage chair. This is because it lacks the component necessary to perform a true muscle manipulating massage — rollers.

Instead of rollers, the Best Choice recliner features high-frequency vibration plates that massage the body. And while vibration massage won’t deliver the same quality of therapeutic benefits as a chair with rollers, it does stimulate the skin, muscles, and promote local circulation.

The vibration massage is divided across four body areas: upper back, lower back, thighs, and calves. The areas can be activated individually or all together depending on the level of coverage you want.

Since there aren’t rollers (or other common massage components like airbags), there aren’t any true automatic massage programs. However, the Best Choice recliner does offer five different vibration modes, including Pulse, Press, Wave, Auto, and Normal.

Each mode vibrates in different patterns and at different speeds. To adjust the vibration massage further, there are two intensity settings: low and high.

In terms of massage, that’s about it on the Best Choice recliner sofa — four vibration areas, five vibration modes, and two vibration intensity levels.

The Best Choice Recliner Sofa’s minimal massage features don’t make it a standout choice for massage. But when you combine those features with the other features of the chair, it starts to make sense why some users rate it so highly. Let’s take a closer look…

Lower Back Heat Therapy

Perhaps the most therapeutic feature on the Best Choice recliner is heat therapy. Heat dilates blood vessels for increased circulation, reduces the perception of pain in the area it's applied, and relaxes the muscles.

On the Best Choice recliner, a heating pad radiates warmth to the lumbar spine. The heat can be turned off or on but there’s no way to adjust the temperature.

Handheld Remote

An Image of Remote of the Best Choice Recliner

All of the chairs massage functions and the heat are controlled with the handheld remote. The remote is attached to the chair with a cord. It’s easy to keep out of the way by storing it in one of the chair’s pockets.

The remote has simple push buttons and each function is clearly labeled. Small lights indicate which functions are active so you always know which massage settings are running. The only downside of the remote is that there isn’t a timer, so you don’t know how much time is left in your massage until it ends.

Manual Recline and Ottoman

Like its name implies, the Best Choice recliner does indeed recline. It has a manual pull lever located on the side of the chair. Pull the lever and push your weight back until you reach a comfortable position. The chair reclines just shy of parallel to the ground. Additionally, there’s a retractable ottoman you can lift to rest your feet on or use to enjoy the calf vibration massage.

Leather-Like PU Upholstery

The Best Choice recliner is upholstered in a durable leather-like material made from polyurethane. Not only does the material look high-quality, but it’s abrasion resistant, stain resistant, and easy to clean.

Plus, the material and the chair’s overall design make it blend in with modern decor. It looks like a comfortable recliner, not a big, awkward massage chair, which means it seamlessly fits into most room designs and can be utilized in different ways. Home theater seat, anyone?

Functional, Lightweight Design with Swivel Base

The Best Choice Recliner Sofa weights approximately 92.5 pounds. Compared to many other massage chairs that clock in at over 200 pounds, that’s lightweight. It’s size and weight make it easy to move from one position or room to another.

An Image of Swivel Base and Foldable Ottoman of Best Choice Recliner

Another way the Best Choice recliner makes position adjustments easy is with a swivel base. The base rotates a full 360 degrees, so you don’t have to worry about lifting the entire chair to simply change your direction. However, a few Best Choice recliner reviews state that the swivel is sensitive so there’s a chance the chair will rotate even when you don’t intend it.

The Best Choice recliner is a fairly large chair in that it fits taller users and has a weight capacity of up to 250 pounds. The chair is functional and comfortable enough to be used as a standard recliner when not getting a massage.

Cup Holders

The Best Choice recliner sofa has two cup holders — one on each armrest. This means you can enjoy the chair and your favorite beverage without having to leave the comfort of your seat. Cup holders are another reason why users have found the chair fitting for game rooms, living rooms and home theaters. If you don’t foresee yourself needing two cup holders at once, the vacant cup holder can be used as additional storage for your phone.

Storage Pockets

For even more storage, the Best Choice recliner sofa has four pockets. Two small pockets on the front of the chair and two larger pockets on the sides of the chair. Store your favorite magazines or books in the side pockets and your phone, iPod, earbuds or remote in the front two.

Only Available Online

An Image of Recliner Right Front

So far, there hasn’t been much downside to this affordable chair other than it’s limited massage capabilities. But here’s where things get a little tricky and where most users find issue: the Best Choice recliner sofa is from a no-name brand and is only available online.

This brings up quite a few concerns about the chair’s quality, longevity, and if there’s a customer service team to help you out if something goes wrong.

On Amazon, the Best Choice recliner reviews give the chair a 3.7 star rating out of 5 from 97 reviewers, 93 of which are Verified Purchase reviews. From what we can tell, the quality of the Best Choice Recliner Sofa is hit or miss. Some users seem to get a mechanically sound product, while others get a chair that breaks down quickly. Some users have even reported receiving the chair without the remote control or other essential components. And the customer service support seems spotty at best. Plus, if something does happen to go wrong with the chair there’s a chance you’ll be responsible for paying the return shipping costs — not the company.

And that’s the main issue with the Best Choice recliner — it’s a bit of a gamble.

So if you want to know for sure that you’re covered if something happens to your chair, it’s not the most reliable option.

So what do you do if you want a little more certainty in terms of product reliability but don’t want to spend a lot of cash to get it? We’ve pulled another massage chair model you might want to check out...

best Choice Recliner Sofa Vs. Human Touch Ijoy 2580

The Human Touch iJoy 2580 is a more traditional style massage chair, but it’s affordable (well under $1000), comes with a two-year limited warranty, and has additional recreational features you might enjoy. Let’s take a closer look at how it compares to the Best Choice Recliner Sofa.

Roller Technology with 24-inch S-Track

Whereas the Best Choice recliner is a chair that also massages, the iJoy 2580 is a massage chair through and through, which means it has rollers!

Like we explained earlier, rollers are necessary for massage because they perform the muscular manipulation that’s required to get the most therapeutic benefits.

On the iJoy 2580, the rollers move along a 24-inch S-Track.

So what’s an S-Track?

An S-Track is “S” shaped track that’s designed to replicate the natural curve of the spine and helps the rollers keep consistent contact and pressure across curvy areas like the low back. It’s the standard track on any high-quality massage chair because it works with the body’s natural curvature.

The 24-inch S-Track on the iJoy 2580 is on the shorter side. It extends from the neck to the waist on most users.

Massage Techniques and Automatic Programs

And since the iJoy 2580 has rollers is also has techniques and programs. There are four massage roller techniques, including:

  • Kneading. Performs small circular motions.
    ●    Kneading. Performs small circular motions.
  • Compression. Presses on the spinal muscles and joints with alternating strokes and rocking movements.
    ●    Compression. Presses on the spinal muscles and joints with alternating strokes and rocking movements.
  • Percussion. Alternates rapid tapping strokes.
    ●    Percussion. Alternates rapid tapping strokes.
  • Rolling. Rolls up and down on either side of the spine.
    ●    Rolling. Rolls up and down on either side of the spine.

Three of the techniques are stationary (kneading, compression, and percussion) and one is dynamic (rolling). The techniques can be used individually or can be combined.

Using a combination the techniques, the iJoy 2580 performs three automatic massages. These are the pre-programmed massages that require no effort on your part. Just press a button, sit back, and relax.

There three auto programs on the iJoy 2580 are: Neck and Shoulder Relief, Back Refresh, and Lower Back Release.

If you’d rather skip the automatic massage programs and customize your own, the iJoy 2580 lets you customize the location of the rollers to pinpoint your treatment or focus them on a particular 6-inch zone.

There are no intensity adjustments on the iJoy 2580, however, there’s a back pad that you can remove from the backrest to increase the intensity of the massage.

Built-In Remote & Power Recline

Rather than having a handheld remote, the iJoy 2580 has a built-in one. It’s located on the top portion of the armrest and makes adjusting your settings easy. The remote lets you control all of the chair’s massage functions, plus the recline. That’s right, there’s no manually pulling a lever to recline the chair. The iJoy 2580 also gives you a significant level of recline, bringing you almost parallel to the ground. This position is not only comfortable but increases the intensity of your massage as your body weight holds you on top of the rollers.

Removable Headrest

At the top of the iJoy 2580 is a headrest that can be adjusted or removed altogether. Removing the headrest doesn’t affect the intensity of your massage, but it gives you a little more control over your position and comfort.

Armrest Cup Holders

Like the Best Choice recliner, the iJoy 2580 features a cup holder. The cup holder comes has a removable top that you can place over the opening when you’re not using it.

Auxiliary Power Outlet

On the left side of the iJoy 2580 is a power outlet that lets you plug in a device. Perhaps you want to work on your laptop while getting a massage? With the iJoy 2580, you can easily power or charge an external device.

Low to the Ground

Perhaps the biggest issue users have with the Human Touch iJoy 2580 is that it sits low to the ground. While this won’t affect some users, others who struggle to get in and out of chairs may find it challenging. But some users have solved this problem by placing bed lifts under the chair to raise its height.

Reputable, Well-Known Brand

Perhaps the most compelling case for the iJoy 2580 compared to the Best Choice recliner is brand recognition. Human Touch is a well-known name in the massage chair industry. They’re headquartered in California where they house their customer support team. So if something happens to your chair, you can hop on the phone and talk to a person. Plus, Human Touch has been in business for over 35 years, so the likelihood of them being around a year, two years, or even 10 years down the road is significantly higher than a no-name brand.

Human Touch Massage Chairs are available in brick and mortar retailers as well as online, so if you want to try a model before you buy it, you at least have that option.

Which Massage Chair is Better?

An Image of Best Choice Recliner Brown Color Massage Chair

At the time of this Best Choice Recliner Review, is about $375 less than the Human Touch iJoy 2580. That’s quite a difference, but there’s a big difference in the quality of components and it’s overall benefits.

If you’re looking for a comfortable recliner than can also massage, the Best Choice recliner sofa may be a great option for you. However, if you’re looking for an affordable therapeutic massage chair that also has some of the recreational features users love like a cup holder and outlet, the Human Touch iJoy 2580 is a great option.

In terms of reliability and overall quality, the Human Touch iJoy 2580 is simply better, but you pay for it with the higher price tag. But if you’re up for a gamble, you may get lucky with a sound Best Choice recliner.
